2020 Encapsulated

This project was an ambitious multimedia effort to immortalize some of 2020’s most important science stories in an archival format that would last for millennia. We collected digital artifacts from moments in 2020 around the pandemic, climate catastrophe, and more, and worked with researchers at the University of Washington to encode our digital mementos into artificial DNA. We created an interactive file browser for our time capsule, and a documentary about the whole effort. I was the project’s creator, producer, and reporter.
